LANDCROS One lands prestigious award

Hitachi’s concept excavator, representing the future of construction, is recognised by Red Dot Design Award.

Unveiled at Bauma 2025, the LANDCROS One concept excavator has received a Red Dot Design Award. Developed in collaboration with Granstudio, the innovative machine embodies Hitachi Construction Machinery’s ambition to deliver solutions beyond machinery.

The concept attracted strong interest at the HCME stand in Munich, where visitors praised its futuristic design and forward-looking technology. Its recognition at the Red Dot Design Awards highlights the company’s commitment to research, development and innovation – with HCM increasing R&D spend in 2024 to 2.7% of total sales, equivalent to €219.6 million.

The LANDCROS One integrates several pioneering features. It is designed with three adaptable powertrain options – electric, diesel or hydrogen – supporting the industry’s shift towards more sustainable operations.

Digital solutions also play a key role. AI-assisted controls, 360-degree sensor systems and remote workstations are designed to improve safety, reduce fatigue and increase productivity. This aligns with wider industry trends of digitalisation and decarbonisation, while also preparing for future workforce needs.

Based on Hitachi’s vision for the future, the concept represents more than just a machine. It demonstrates how technology, design and sustainability can combine to redefine the possibilities of modern construction.

“LANDCROS One is more than just a machine, It’s our commitment to deliver solutions beyond machinery in a new construction ecosystem. We’re proud to lead the next wave of innovation, empowering the next-generation workforce and redefining possibilities in the construction machinery industry.”
